Romantic Museum
The Romantic Museum provides a snapshot of the lifestyle of a privileged Catalan family at the height of the Romantic Movement. Set inside the large house of the Llopis family, ‘Can Llopis’, was built in the late 18th century and is a fascinating historic view of life in the town.
The building is Neoclassical in style and it has a courtyard in the middle, in typical Mediterranean style. Things to look out for in the museum are the décor of the house, a carriage which seats fourteen people, several bicycles (velocipedes) and different types of lighting which trace the history of domestic lighting from candlesticks to gas lights. There are also more than 400 dolls, most of which are dressed according to their time period.
Apartments in Sitges are plentiful, with lots of choice but it does tend to get very busy during the peak season and late bookers may be disappointed. Location can often be a problem with apartments in some cities but this is not the case with apartments in Sitges since it is a small town and it is possible to travel on foot to all local attractions.
The Romantic Museum is situated on Calle Sant Gaudenci and guided tours of the museum are standard; admission is 3.50 Euros or where reduced price applies, 2 Euros. On the first Wednesday in each month, there is no admission charge and entry is always free for children under twelve.

As the museum closes in the afternoon, when the sun is at its hottest, visitors are happy to return to their apartments in Sitges, to cool down and rehydrate before sampling other attractions later in the afternoon.
While visiting the Romantic Museum, it is worth noting that Cau Ferrat, Maricel Museum and Colonia Guell Crypt are all close to numerous apartments in Sitges. There are several cafes and restaurants in the area and a number of tourist information offices and a trip into Barcelona itself opens up a host of other possibilities; and details can be obtained from local tourist offices.
