The Quai Branly Museum in Paris is named after its location at 37 Quai Branly along the Seine River. Opening on June 23, 2006, the Quai Branly Museum was advocated by French president Jacques Chirac. The building’s quite picturesque design is by architect Jean Nouvel and is situated just 100 metres away from Paris’s famous Eiffel Tower. The Quai Branly Museum depicts Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas through indigenous art and cultural pieces. The museum’s permanent collection includes over 265,000 objects. Among the Quai Branly Museum’s prized possessions are a Dogon statue from Mali, Aztec figures, and extraordinary frescoes from Ethiopia.
