Paris Christmas Market
Paris is a beautiful city in every season, but during the run-up to Christmas it is particularly spectacular, illuminated with sparkling Christmas lights and decorations. A trip to one of the city’s Christmas markets is a lovely way to get into the festive mood and the ideal location to purchase that extra special gift for your loved ones.
The French capital’s largest Christmas market can be found on the famous Champs-Elysées, running along to the Place de la Concorde. This annual market is taking place this year from late November until the 3rd January, and during this time the Champs-Elysées is transformed into a Christmas Village with twinkling lights lining the beautiful avenue and impressive sculptures. Many stalls are on offer serving traditional French and international foods, hand-crafted ornaments and hot beverages.
The Christmas Market is a wonderful experience for all ages, and young children will especially enjoy the fairground rides, games and toy stalls. If you’re lucky, you may even get a glimpse of Father Christmas on his sleigh. The Champs-Elysées Christmas Market is free to attend and is open Sunday through Thursday from 10am – 11pm, closing at midnight on Friday and Saturdays. When travelling from your Paris apartment, the closest Metro station to the market is the Champs-Elysées or Clemenceau, on Metro lines 1 and 13.
