London Zoo
The London Zoo in the heart of
Regent’s Park is a fantastic day out that both families and couples will treasure. The zoo has more than an incredible 750 species with over 16,000 animals in total, making it one of the largest collections in the whole of the UK. The zoo has a variety of themed zones, including a reptile house, a rainforest enclosure and even a penguin beach. London Zoo has a whole host of rare and exciting animals and is always a popular attraction for those staying in our
London apartments.
The zoo was first opened to the public in `1847, making it one of the oldest zoos in the world. The zoo then focused on expanding its variety of animal species, introducing new zones throughout the 19th Century for the public to enjoy. When the zoo faced possible closure in 1991, overwhelming support ensured the zoo would remain open, emphasising the importance and the support of the attraction from its visitors.
The zoo is open every day of the year except for Christmas Day, with opening times varying depending on the season. Tickets are priced at £13 for children and £16 for adults, though you can get special discounted prices for groups of 10 or more. If you’re worried about the typically unpredictable English weather, there are numerous indoor houses and facilities for you to relax and see the animals, some even sporting tropical climates to help you escape from the rain.
Regent’s Park has its own tube station, though due to the park’s huge area there are numerous other tube stations you can use to get to the zoo, with Camden Town the closest. We have an array of
London apartments close to the London Zoo, so be sure to check out our portfolio if this fascinating zoo excites you and your family.
