London Aquarium
The London Aquarium on the
South Bank of the River Thames is home to thousands of sea creatures, amphibians and sharks. With around 500 different species and 14 themed zones, the aquarium has a superb variety that will fascinate and delight you. The aquarium also offers you the chance to feed the animals yourself, or if you’d prefer to be a bit more daring you can swim with some of the sea creatures and see them up close. The London Aquarium is in a great location of London and is a clear highlight of the area when visiting from one of our
London apartments.
The aquarium was opened in 1997, growing in popularity ever since. It now attracts over a million visitors a year thanks to having the largest portfolio of aquatic animals in London. The aquarium constantly inhabits new and exotic animals, as evidenced by the acquisition of a new penguin exhibit in 2011.
Tickets for the aquarium are priced at around £22 for adults and £18 for children, though they are 10% cheaper if you book in advance online. The aquarium is open Monday-Thursday from 10am-6pm and Friday-Sunday from 10am-7pm. You can also purchase ‘behind the scenes’ tickets for a unique tour to experience the day-to-day running of the aquarium from 2012 onwards, with admission fees priced at around £7.50 for adults and £5 for children, though they are once again 10% cheaper if you book online.
The nearest tube stations to the London Aquarium are Waterloo and
Westminster, both well within walking distance. The London Aquarium offers a great family day out to see some sea creatures you may not have even heard of before, all close by to the comfort of one of our fabulous
London apartments.
