Twickenham is the home of English rugby union and hosts all of England’s home matches, as well as other prestigious finals and concerts. The stadium has a capacity of 82,000 which makes it the second largest stadium in the UK after Wembley. When visiting Twickenham from one of our London apartments you can also see the World Rugby Museum, which contains some iconic memorabilia and allows you to get an insight into the game of rugby and why it is adored by countries such as France, Australia, South Africa and of course the UK itself.

Twickenham recently celebrated its 100th year anniversary after opening in 1910. The stadium’s nickname is ‘Cabbage Patch’, as the site the ground was built on was initially used to grow cabbages. The ground has also been used for Rugby World Cups in 1991 and again in 1999, despite the latter tournament being held in Wales. Now the stadium is famously used during the Six Nations tournament held in February and March, though tickets are usually snapped months beforehand in August or September the year before.

Besides hosting international rugby matches, the stadium also annually hosts the Aviva Premiership final in May and the Middlesex Sevens tournament in August, allowing you to see some rugby matches if you’re visiting our London apartments during these months. Musical artists such as Sting, U2 and The Rolling Stones have also performed there, though the stadium is more famous for hosting rugby union matches. The museum is free to visit, however it is only open on Tuesdays and Saturdays 11-3pm and Sundays 2-4pm.
