Labelled as ‘The Home of Cricket’, Lord’s cricket ground is the most famous cricket venue in the world and has a special place in every cricket fan’s heart. The ground has a superb mix of traditional and modern architecture, as well as the famous Honours Board that every visiting player strives to appear on. The ground has been the home of English cricket for over a century, and has its very own museum which remains the oldest sporting museum in the world, making it a great place to spend an afternoon for sports fans when renting one of our London apartments.

Lord’s has been hosting cricket matches since the early 19th Century, before then hosting its first international test match between England and Australia in 1884. The famous Victorian pavilion was erected soon after, still standing proudly today. The new Media Centre on the opposite side of the ground was built for the Cricket World Cup in 1999, and has been praised for its exemplary architecture, preserving Lord’s’ famous tradition yet allowing it to be a contemporary ground too.

Besides the ground itself, the museum is a popular place for tourists to visit, particularly because it’s the home of the original Ashes urn, one of the most famous trophies in all of sport. It also contains some legendary cricketing memorabilia from some of the game’s greats. However, if you’re renting one of our nearby London apartments, the ground is also within walking distance of Regent’s Park and Hyde Park, as well as the popular regions of Paddington and Marylebone.

St John’s Wood is the closest tube station, though there are a number of stations that are within walking distance of the iconic Lord’s cricket ground.
