Olympic Venue: Water Polo Arena
Located next to the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Arena, this temporary structure will host the Water Polo competitions during the 2012 Olympics. Fusing elements from various other Olympic sports, Water Polo can be likened to an aquatic version of Handball or Rugby and has featured within the Olympic programme for a very long time. The Water Polo Arena contains a competition pool and warm-up pool and spectator seating for up to 5,000. Water Polo is a true test of skill and endurance, with competitors unable to touch the side of the pool during play, having to swim and tread water for the four – 8 minute sections.
