Olympic Venue: Horse Guards Parade

In keeping with its traditional environment, the Beach Volleyball event will take place outdoors, however, instead of being surrounded by palm trees and lapping waves, the competition will take place in London’s Horse Guard Parade. During the Olympics, an artificial Beach Volleyball court will be created, bringing in 3,000 tons of sand. 24 teams for each the men and women’s separate events will compete in the preliminary round. 16 teams from each will move on to the semi-finals to compete for the winning status. Horse Guards Parade is located close to Westminster and will have capacity for 15,000 spectators.
