The Science Museum

Seven Massive Floors Devoted to Science and Technology

Any visitor enjoying London Holiday Rentals would be well advised to pay a visit to the treasures of the marvellous Science Museum.

This colossal building was founded in 1857, with objects first shown in the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace; the Science Museum stocks hundreds of thousands of exhibits, from microchips to life-sized aircraft, including steam engines and spacecraft. A trip to this museum is an education in itself, not just in science itself but in the history and role of science in society.

In 2000, the magnificent new Welcome Wing opened, representing a massive extension to the museum. Here you’ll be simply astonished by the four floors, which cover the most advanced developments in contemporary science, technology and medicine. If you’ve been to the Science Museum during your stay in previous London holiday rentals, it’s certainly worth another visit just for this wing alone. Interactive displays throughout the museum make the centre highly engaging to young and old visitors alike.

Wherever in the city your London holiday rentals may be, the Science Museum is easily accessible by public transport. South Kensington underground station is nearby and the museum is served by numerous bus routes (including 14, 49, 74, 345, 360, 414, 430 and C1). Admission is free and the museum is open every day (except from the 24th to the 26th of December) between 10am and 6pm. If you’ve taken the time to stay a while in London Holiday Rentals do take the time to visit the Science Museum – you won’t be disappointed.
