Freeze Festival

The UK's Only Ski, Snowboard and Music Festival

If you can't quite wait for the start of the ski season, then head to South West London towards the end of October for the UK's only ski, snowboard and music festival. Now celebrating its 4th year, the annual Freeze Festival is a fantastic event for city dwellers, and visitors staying in London apartment rentals, to get a taste for all things alpine, and to commence countdown to the start of the European winter ski season.

Held in the grounds of London's iconic Battersea Power Station, visitors will be distracted from the buildings distinctive chimneys, by the 32m high kicker specially constructed for the festival. Some of the top international ski and snowboarders will compete on this mammoth jump, participating in various heats, including Battle of Britain, Freestyle Ski Big Air, Snowboard World Cup and the EU Vs. the World. Whether you're a seasoned skier or boarder, or there simply for the music, you're sure to be impressed by the variety of tricks, and will feel the winter chill from the 500 tonnes of real snow covering the slope.

In traditional après ski style, live music is a major part of the festival, with 4 performance stages across the venue. Previous festivals have seen the likes of Pendulum, Mark Ronson and Cypress Hill taking to the stage, with a promising line up for 2011. Groove Armada and Zane Lowe are headlining Friday's main stage, with Saturday welcoming a performance from The Streets. Chill out in the apres ski bar and warm yourself up with traditional mountain drinks, such as Jaeger Bombs and Desperados.

With a huge amount of stalls selling clothing, equipment and holidays, you can start to prepare for the winter season ahead. The festival is open both Friday and Saturday from 12pm – 10.30pm. A weekend ticket for admission on both days will set you back £60 for adults and £28 for children under 15 years. Daily admission is £37 for adults and £17 for children. The prices exclude a booking fee. Guests staying in London apartment rentals can visit the Freeze Festival, by travelling to Battersea Park Station or Queenstown Road Battersea, by train.
