Chelsea Flower Show
A much-loved annual event on the British social calendar, the Chelsea Flower Show is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society. It attracts millions of visitors every year, who travel to see the creative floral displays and garden designs. It is held over 5 days towards the end of May and takes place in 11 acres of gardens at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, the home of the famous Chelsea Pensioners. Chelsea has long been a sought-after address for residents and for vacation rentals; London has many rental properties available.
All show tickets must be bought in advance and costs start at £19, but tickets sell out quickly. On the final day the plants are sold off to the public. The show is from 8am to 8pm and the first two days are reserved for members of the RHS. Anyone can join the RHS, including foreign nationals staying in vacation rentals (London or other areas). It is a charitable organisation which supports gardening and horticulture in the UK. Membership entitles you to visit their 4 RHS gardens all year round.
Traffic is very busy in the Chelsea area during the flower show, so you will need to consider transport options if you are travelling from vacation rentals. London has plenty of option with Sloane Square being the nearest Underground station and Victoria the nearest railway station. Driving is not advisable due to the congestion charge and the lack of parking facilities.
Chelsea is a busy part of London all year round but the highlight of the year is the Chelsea Flower Show when keen gardeners descend on the area from all over the world and from nearby vacation rentals, London accommodation is in high demand at this time so book in advance.
