Knightsbridge

Home to One of the World's Most Famous Department Stores

Knightsbridge is centrally located in the heart of London as one of the international business capitals of London. The area is not only for the socially elite, but it is also a very business-centric area.

Before becoming one the most established areas in London, the area was merely a small locality near Chelsea. There was nothing posh about it. Knightsbridge acquired its name from the Knight’s Bridge, which was built over the River Westbourne. It was said in 1141, the citizens of London welcomed back Matilda of England, Empress Matilda, in the middle of the bridge, after her triumph over King Stephen in the Battle of Lincoln.

Knightsbridge is famously known for housing the high-end shops, Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Besides the most visited shops, there are various other stores to visit, such as TopShop or Zara. It is highly recommended to visit Harrods, just prepare to be amazed by its vast size. Harrods has different departments such as a department dedicated to pets, which actually include live animals customers may adopt, as well as cookbooks designed solely for dogs, and it also holds one of the most grand Christmas departments! Upon visiting the store, be sure to check out the food hall and sit down for a delicious ice cream. Knightsbridge is also close to Hyde Park, which is a wonderful park to go see or enjoy a nice picnic.

In general, Knightsbridge can be on the pricier side, but makes up for the fact with its central location, fabulous shopping, and very accommodating hotels and staff members. The area is easily accessible, having its own Knightsbridge stop on the Piccadilly tube line. Visitors are recommended to view the area’s grandest and oldest shopping department store that is sure to impress any shopper.
