Barcelona Aquarium
The Barcelona Aquarium, located near
apartments in Barcelona, opened in 1995 at Port Vell on the coast of Spain in Barcelona. This Mediterranean aquatic collection includes 11,000 sea creatures of 450 species. There are 35 individual tanks holding a combined six million litres of water, one of which is an 80 metre long tunnel that guests can walk through or ride along on a moving walkway.
The Barcelona Aquarium is best suited for families. The aquarium has activities available for all ages, including tours, workshops, and visits to the tech area. Children are also able to have birthday parties and even sleepovers at the Barcelona Aquarium. Perhaps one of the more interesting activities at Barcelona Aquarium is diving with the sharks, an activity intended for experienced divers. The goal of the Barcelona Aquarium diving programme is to work educational pieces into the dive to teach people about sharks and their habitats. The shark dives cost €300, which includes a guided tour, a class, the dive, diving equipment, insurance, a souvenir, and entrance into the Barcelona Aquarium.
Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 9:00pm and weekends from 9:30am to 9:30pm. During the months of July and August the aquarium is open until 11pm.
