Nou Camp Stadium

The Largest Stadium in Europe, Home to FC Barcelona.

Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium, with a capacity of 98,787, is the largest stadium in Europe and the 11th largest in the world. The stadium is home to European football giants FC Barcelona. If Barcelona is scheduled to play, when staying in our holiday apartments, ensure to get tickets to one of these highly atmospheric events.

The Nou Camp was built in 1957 as a replacement for Barcelona’s old stadium, Camp de Les Corts. The stadium capacity reached 121,749 during the 1982 World Cup but, since the outlawing of standing sections, the maximum capacity has now been set at just under 99,000. Primarily a soccer stadium, the Nou Camp has also been used for some major concerts in recent years. Michael Jackson, U2, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are just some of the stars who have performed at the stadium.

Football, of course, is the main event at the Nou Camp, and catching a game here is a must when staying in our apartments. Barcelona tickets can be purchased online or at the stadium ticket office. Ticket prices vary depending on the seat location (and the competition) and prices can range from €20 to €225. Try to buy tickets early as they can sell out, especially for big games.

If there are no games scheduled then football fans can still visit the stadium museum, El Museu del Barça. This museum, the most visited in Catalonia, houses almost 1,500 items from FC Barcelona’s history including 420 trophies (so far). The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00am to 6:30pm (and until 8.00pm from 6th April to 4th October) and from 10.00am until 2.30pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The same opening hours apply for the incredibly popular Nou Camp tours. Again, it is a good idea to book a tour before arriving at our holiday apartments: Barcelona is, after all, one of the world’s most popular football clubs. Expect to pay €22 for a self-guided tour which includes access to the museum.

Taking the metro is the best way to get to the stadium from our apartments. Barcelona metro Line 5 can take you to the nearby Collblanc i Badal stop while Line 3 goes to Maria Cristina, Palau Reial and Zona Universitària, which are all within walking distance. For more information about FC Barcelona and the Nou Camp, visit the official club website: www.fcbarcelona.com.
