The Magic Fountain at Placa de Espanya in Barcelona is a fantastic spectacle to visit when staying in Barcelona apartments. There is a performance of water spouting in all directions in co-ordination and illuminated in all kinds of colours. The jets are synchronized to classical the music creating a musical light and water show. There are several Barcelona apartments only a short walk from Placa de Espanya where the Magic Fountain is located.

The fountains were built in 1929 for the Barcelona Great Universal Exhibition, designed by Carles Buigas, taking as many as 3000 people to construct them in under a year.

The fountain has 3,620 water jets shooting out 2,600 litres of water forced out by five water pumps, through on and a half kilometers of pipes, illuminated by 4,760 lights, using 1,507 kilowatts of power. This all makes for an impressive light, water and sound show.

In the winter months from October to April the show times are Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with music accompaniment at 7:00 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm, 8:30 pm.

In the summer months from May to September the show times are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 pm to 11:30 pm, with music accompaniment 9:30 pm, 10:00 pm, 10:30 pm, 11:00 pm.
