The International Percussion Festival of Catalonia is an annual event that takes place during the month of February and is a celebration of the fantastic and unusual instruments of the percussion variety. The festival starts on the 4th February and concludes on the 27th, allowing a great variety of percussion instruments from countries such as Portugal, Brazil, the United States, Norway and many more to sparkle, all within close proximity of our Barcelona apartments.

The 2012 event will be the 7th edition of the colourful festival, which has grown and grown since its inception. The event’s unique selling point is the sheer variety you have at your disposal, ranging from percussion instruments such as bass drums and the triangle, as well as innovative and creative ideas from a host of percussion bands you wouldn’t have seen before. With such variety, the festival takes place over a number of weeks to cram everything in, meaning no matter what time of the month you book one of our Barcelona apartments you will be able to catch some form of percussion instrument at this unique event.

The festival is known more for unearthing new musicians than attracting establishing ones, with many music students of Barcelona being given the chance to perform too, including the School of Music of Catalonia percussionists. This gives you the chance to see some stars in the making, as well as open yourself to a new style of percussion music and something different from what you’ve seen before.

You can catch many of the concerts from the Auditorium of Barcelona throughout February, but there may well be concerts elsewhere throughout the city, allowing you to explore Barcelona fully.
