The call comes after easyJet announced details of a new service from Newcastle International Airport to the Dutch capital.
The new route was announced as part of the low-cost airline's winter schedule, giving Newcastle residents a chance to enjoy the city's famous nightlife and enjoy some retail therapy in a picturesque setting.
These plans will add to the five flights a day to Amsterdam currently being operated by KLM. The easyJet service also adds to the ferry link provided to the Dutch city by DFDS Seaways from the Port of Tyne.
Hugh Aitken, easyJet UK commercial manager, said: 'The launch of our winter schedule offers both leisure and business passengers the best choice of low-fare destinations all-year-round at Newcastle International Airport.
'EasyJet delivers the best value fares to the places our customers tell us they most want to visit and we'll continue to make travel easy and affordable for all.'
People wanting to jet off from Newcastle on a winter break this year will be able to take advantage of more than 300,000 seats available between October 28 and next February.
Meanwhile, those heading out to Amsterdam over the next few months might want to check out the colourful Dutch Flowers display at the Rijksmuseum annex at Schiphol Airport.
Although it's a bit too early for easyJet customers flying over from Newcastle, the exhibition offers an intriguing insight into the character and history of the Netherlands.
The display opened last month and it will continue until June 25. It features nine paintings that once decorated the homes of affluent people in the 17th century.
They represent a period when cut flowers were a valuable luxury that only the richest individuals could afford.
The Rijksmuseum Schiphol is past the airport's passport control desks, in the renovated Holland Boulevard area, between piers E and F.
