The Cocktail and Genever Experience is a unique self-guided tour through the historic and present-day aspects of cocktail ingredients, recipes and bar tending, and makes for an exciting evening out from Amsterdam apartment rentals.

Available in Amsterdam’s House of Bols, this popular interactive tour takes visitors through a stimulating sensory journey, presenting various attractions for the eyes, ears, nose and mouths to appreciate.

Visitors interested in the raw ingredients of a cocktail, can explore the rich history of Amsterdam’s oldest distilled spirit - Lucas Bols. Developed by the Bols Family distillery in the early 1700’s, this establishment was no stranger to alcohol production, having started out producing liqueurs in 1575.

Visitors can see how the famous Bols Genever is now used to create some of the most delicious cocktail recipes, and can take a trip through the Hall of Taste to sample a selection of flavours using only the nose and eyes. It is said that 95% of tastes are created from aromas, and visitors can experience this first-hand using the 36 aroma sprays.

Visitors will be in awe when touring round the Delfts Blue room, displaying an array of hand-painted tiles of famous buildings in the Netherlands. You can literally step into a World of Cocktails by watching a video clip projected onto a 280 degree cinema screen and listening to the accompanying electro house track. This visual and audio experience is meant to convey the vivid feeling often experienced after drinking a cocktail.

The end of the self-guided tour takes you into the stylish Mirror Bar, where you will be able to consume a variety of Genever cocktails – one of which is complimentary with your admission cost. The House of Bols is located opposite the Van Gogh Museum in Museumsquare and is conveniently located to many Amsterdam apartment rentals.
